And it is, of course, a name we're familiar with from the NYC metropolitan area. CTown Market Fresh -- previously just Market Fresh before their CTown affiliation -- opened in 2021 in an extensively renovated small grocery store space on North 5th St in Uptown. The 6200 square foot store brings a rather full-service supermarket to the area which would otherwise be a food desert, except for a Save-A-Lot about half a mile north. Market Fresh Supermarket Opened: 2018 Owner: Kenny Othman Previous Tenants: Walgreens Cooperative: Key Food Stores Location:  570 Tompkins Ave, Staten Island, NY Photographed:  March 2, 2020 This former Walgreens was converted to the independent Market Fresh Supermarket, owned by the same family that owns the Key Food on Flatbush Ave . Market Fresh also had a location in Wood-Ridge, NJ, which has since gone out of business (but will be coming to the blog here soon). There's another Market Fresh out there somewhere, but I've yet to figure out where that location is. As I mentioned, this store was a Walgreens. And the restroom in the basement still has a Walgreens garbage can! The 8,000 square foot store begins with produce lining both sides of the first aisle. Here's a quick look at a store that specializes in fresh produce and perishables in Tarrytown, NY. It's affiliated with Krasdale's Market Fresh group. Harvest Field opened their first store at 75 Fleetwood Ave, Mount Vernon, NY in 2010 in half of a former A&P. (The other half, shockingly, became a CVS.) 2016 saw the opening of this location at 350 S Broadway, Tarrytown, which is actually two floors with grocery and deli on the main floor and produce in the basement. We're back again in Elizabeth, NJ for a look at another brand-new supermarket. This one, B-Town Market Fresh (not sure what the B stands for), is affiliated with Allegiance Retail Services and therefore uses the Foodtown circular and storebrand. This store, which is located in the North Elizabeth section, is the first new supermarket to open in Elizabeth since the embarrassment known as Supermarkets Plus (which was, however, beautiful to begin with). Unlike Supermarkets Plus, however, this store's owner has not had three of their stores "mysteriously" burn down. The B-Town Market Fresh joins three existing Market Fresh locations in the Hudson Valley of New York, which you can see on their website . I don't think they share an owner, though, as the owner was actually in-store on my visit. This 22,000-square-foot store is in a promising location -- a vibrant neighborhood consisting primarily of Latino and Haitian immigrants -- and has a beautiful facility. ...
