Location:  1955 NY-52, Liberty, NY Photographed:  February 3, 2021 Our final stop in Liberty is the ShopRite. The 56,000 square foot store was constructed by Big V Supermarkets in around the 1980s, then expanded to its present size (you can see the expansion out the right below) in 2015. Here's an article from a local Jewish publication specifically highlighting the expanded kosher selection. The store had a renovation at the same time, and it looks really good overall. We enter to the grand aisle on the left side of the store, with produce on the left side and deli/prepared foods on the right side. Cheese and bakery are at the back of the grand aisle, with meat and seafood on the back wall. Liberty Farm Plus Owner:  unknown Opened:  2014 Cooperative:  none Location:  178 Mill St, Liberty, NY Photographed:  February 3, 2021 Just outside downtown Liberty is this small store, called Liberty Farm Plus. It's half-greengrocer, half-natural food store in around 5,000 square feet. It appears to have previously been an auto garage. One room, on the right side, has produce, dairy, and frozen foods. In the other room, on the left, we see a few short grocery aisles. Liberty Farm Plus is about 3/4 of a mile outside of downtown, but there's another supermarket outside of town that we'll be touring tomorrow on The Market Report ! Liberty Market Owner: Randy Resnick Open:  2020-2023 Cooperative:  Key Food Stores Location:  261 N Main St, Liberty, NY Photographed:  February 3, 2021 Welcome to the town of Liberty! Although not a large city, its population of around 10,000 makes it a larger town in the region. We are here to tour the Liberty Market! This 15,000 square foot store appears to have started out as a Victory Market, later Great American , then Ideal Food Basket , then a Key Food-affiliated independent, Liberty Market from 2020 to 2023. Liberty Market closed in early 2023 , and by the summer, reopened as Lemonade, a kosher supermarket. Lemonade doesn't appear to have done much to the store, which makes sense because Liberty Market did a fair amount before moving in. See a new outside shot here and inside here . In an area with a fast-growing Orthodox Jewish population, it seems logical that Liberty can't necessarily support two mainstream stores. There's a ShopRite outside of town as ...
