Update: ACME Markets - Bronxville, NY

ACME Markets Opened: 2015 Owner:  Albertsons Companies Previous Tenants:  Shopwell > The Food Emporium > A&P Cooperative:  none Location:  12 Cedar St, Bronxville, NY Photographed:  April 7, 2025 It's time to check out the fully remodeled Bronxville ACME! I posted this store in progress a few months ago , and the renovation is now done as ACME celebrates their grand reopening. It's looking great! Also of note: ACME has a new decor package. It was first used for their Walnut Street store in Philadelphia , and on a handful of other stores since then, but it seems they've fully switched to this decor package now. All of their latest renovations have used it, including the store in Mayfair which got new decor in the last few weeks of its remodel. That store recently held a grand reopening, along with stores at Granite Run in Media, PA and in Bala Cynwyd, PA . Both of those two stores had the Quality Built renovation before getting this decor package, s...

Special Report: ACME Markets - Bronxville, NY

ACME Markets Opened: 2015 Owner:  Albertsons Companies Previous Tenants:  Shopwell > The Food Emporium > A&P Cooperative:  none Location:  12 Cedar St, Bronxville, NY Photographed:  January 24, 2025 Welcome to a New York ACME! You don't think of New York when you think of ACME, but there are 16 stores here in New York state in Westchester and Putnam Counties, directly north of New York City. They're all stores acquired from A&P in 2015. Here in Bronxville, this store is about two and a half miles north of the northern edge of New York City. This ACME is around 32,000 square feet (with storage in the basement), right in downtown Bronxville, a small town of 6400 people in under a square mile. The supermarket was built in the late 70s or early 80s by Shopwell, which later rebranded to The Food Emporium and was subsequently acquired by A&P in 1986. At some point, this location was rebranded A&P, the banner it kept until A&P's bankruptcy in...

Memorabilia Day 9: Lots More!

It's the last day of our Spring Memorabilia Extravaganza and we're going out with a bang with a whole lot of different stores we haven't seen yet! Associated Grocers of Colorado Associated Grocers of Colorado is not a name I'm familiar with, but it looks like they were in business until bankruptcy in 1992 . Today, Associated Food Stores has locations in Colorado. Clover Farm We've discussed Clover Farm when it comes to memorabilia before, but it's a long-defunct group of small, independent grocers, many of which seem to have been located in small towns. Food Club We saw Food Club a few days ago from a Shaw's , but I don't know where this one came from. It looks to be around the same age as that one. This one was spotted in central PA, so I doubt it came from Shaw's! Great American This appears to be a package from The Great American Tea Company, a predecessor to A&P (the brand was switched to The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company in the ...
