Here on Staten Island, a short-lived Asian Food Markets has new signage up for "Key Food Island" Supermarket, which (as far as I can tell) isn't related in any way to, well, Key Food . It's also unclear what exactly is happening with this property. Key Food Island Corp. was formed in the spring of 2025 at this location, but doesn't seem to be operating here (yet?). While there's very little information on Key Food Island -- most searching just brings you to Key Food -- there is a Facebook page and website that could be related, if slightly suspect with no real contact info  and Walmart branded grocery items . Food Dynasty Opened: March 2026 Owner:  Numan Abuzahrieh Previous Tenants:  Shop Smart Supermarket (closed ca. 2015) > Compare Food Price (ca. 2015-ca. 2020) Cooperative:  Key Food Stores Location:  1039 Castleton Ave, Staten Island, NY Photographed:  March 6, 2026 Last spring, we saw the new CTown on Castleton Avenue on Staten Island, owned by Adam Abuzarieh. The store was just 6000 square feet but an attractive, well-appointed neighborhood supermarket. Now, just eight blocks east, another Abuzarieh has opened another attractive, well-appointed neighborhood supermarket. But this one is even smaller: the new Food Dynasty on Castleton is just 5000 square feet. (A side note here: while public records indicate the owner of this store is Numan Abuzarieh, I don't know for certain whether Numan is related to Adam.) Over the last four years or so, I've been making an effort to visit every supermarket in every neighborhood of New York City. I believe the last time I'd posted about it , I was 80% done with the city. Now, I'm 100% done -- yes, that means I've been to every single supermarket in all five boroughs of New York City, over 1300 of them -- with a caveat. Location:  150 Greaves Ln, Staten Island, NY Photographed:  September 14, 2025 Welcome to the newest ShopRite! I'm a little late on posting this, as the store held its grand opening a week ago today. Regardless, let's tour this brand-new store, which opened on September 14 in Staten Island's Great Kills neighborhood. First, some history. This store was constructed around 2000 as a Pathmark, in a small strip mall on the site of a former industrial complex. It's tucked away into a residential area, and isn't even visible from Amboy Road, the main thoroughfare in the area.
