Market Fresh Supermarket Opened: July 2026 Owner: Kumar Patel Previous Tenants: Keansburg Pharmacy Cooperative: Krasdale Location: 199 Main St, Keansburg, NJ Photographed: August 5, 2026 You might have heard of Keansburg, New Jersey -- on the Jersey Shore -- because of its small waterfront with a boardwalk and amusement park. But with a population of around 10,000 year-round, Keansburg is a full-fledged town, not just a summer trip spot. Since the 1970s, though, it hasn't had its own grocery store (which a lot of local news coverage has mentioned). A circa-1950 Safeway in town became a Finast in the 1960s before closing by 1975. Now, a full (if small) supermarket has returned to town with the opening of the 11,000 square foot Market Fresh. Market Fresh is owned by a local businessman who also owns a handful of convenience stores in and around town, but this is his first full supermarket. Today is a quick look at a small southern Westchester store, this time a Krasdale-affiliated Market Fresh in Mamaroneck. The store is just 3,000 square feet, and was previously a Stop 1 and Market Fresh, both affiliated with Krasdale also. There aren't too many pictures of the inside available online, but we can definitely tell it's more than a convenience store with a substantial produce department and a butcher . Just a few blocks north of here is a larger and very upscale North Shore Farms in half of a former Waldbaum's. We haven't seen that location, although it looks gorgeous, but here's a look at their Whitestone location for an idea. Once again, I hope to get back to this area to see more of it soon, but in the meantime, we're headed up to Armonk next for a beautiful go...

It's just a bit east of yesterday's Adams Fairacre Farms , but a very different supermarket. If Adams is a sprawling gourmet market and garden center, Market Fresh is a compact but well-appointed straightforward supermarket. Then again, at 30,500 square feet, it's not exactly small, but the 80,000 square foot Adams complex dwarfs it. There are three Market Fresh stores affiliated with Allegiance Retail Services (which also runs Foodtown , Pathmark , and Green Way stores), the other two being in Poughkeepsie 16 miles or so north of here, and Middletown , about as far west.
