It's not hard to tell what this 16,600 square foot store store was before its current tenant, although it briefly spent time as a TJ Bart's between A&P and Boyer's. I believe this is our final Boyer's, and it's not exactly the most exciting of them all. It looks a lot like the other stores of this era we've seen. Unfortunately, while many Boyer's stores are located in old big-chain supermarkets like this one, very few have any real remnants from the original tenants left. This one is no exception. You enter on the right side and walk across the front-end to produce in the front left corner. Cold cuts and frozen meat are in the first aisle on the left side, with meats and deli on the back wall. This one is quite an interesting one, though. The 21,000 square foot store is built around an original 13,000 square foot pitched-roof ACME. And although you might think that would be easy to tell from the front, the triangle facade we see there is actually not the roofline -- only the left 3/4 or so of the store is actually the original ACME. It appears some of the right-side expansion may be used for backroom space, but when we enter, we can definitely feel the store's heritage. Produce and dairy are in the first aisle, with meat and deli on the back wall. This was towards the end of the day for me, and I had visited quite a few Boyer's that day, so I was a bit Boyered out and decided not to go into this store -- a decision I now regret because in 2021, the store received a major interior and exterior renovation. There are a few really good photos on Google Maps of the store, so we can now see what the outside , produce , and grocery aisles look like. Looking great -- but I think that's still ACME flooring in the last picture, just refinished! They have around 20 locations in and around the Coal Region and are, in many cases, the only supermarket in town for many of the small communities they're in. The 15,000 square foot store was built in the 1950s as an ACME, although it doesn't exactly resemble any known ACME prototypes, being built around a 9600 square foot barrel-roof building. Note that the sign frame now displaying the Boyer's logo originally had the ACME logo, then Insalaco's, then TJ Bart's, then Boyer's Great Valu.
