The town of 30,000 people is about 10 miles outside Hartford and home to two Stop & Shops, an ALDI, and this ShopRite. This store opened in 2020 in part of a former Price Chopper (which itself was originally an Ames). The Price Chopper was a behemoth of a store at over 100,000 square feet, and the ShopRite is significantly smaller (but still quite large) at 75,000 square feet. They took the right 3/4 of the store, and the left 1/4 is now a Home Sense. The store is owned by the Cohen family, which also owns two other Connecticut ShopRites under their company Waverly Markets , in Manchester and East Hartford . Similar to the last store , this one seems to have its roots either as a Mott's ShopRite or a replacement for one. When they were taken over by Wakefern's corporate division, SRS, quite a few were determined to be too small to keep, but multiple expansions have brought this store's size to over 60,000 square feet. The previous facade was the typical SRS model facade , which is still in place in the Clark, NJ location. ShopRite of East Hartford Owner:  Richard and Kye Brunetti Cohen / Waverly Markets Opened:  2011 Previous Tenants:  A&P Super Foodmart > Shaw's Cooperative:  Wakefern Food Corp. In fact, it's in East Hartford! This store started out as an A&P store, as we can tell from the beautifully original facade, but was later taken over by Shaw's. When Shaw's left the state in 2011, most of the stores were sold to ShopRite operators. While the Cohens, who also the one over in Manchester , bought this location at the time, they did a full renovation but the Shaw's decor wasn't all that old anyway, so we'll see the bones remain.
