I'm a little late to the Trenton party -- the store held its grand reopening last summer, around the time that the Junius Street store in Brownsville, Brooklyn did. Junius Street received a floor-to-ceiling renovation (I've visited and photographed, but not yet posted, that store. It's quite nice), but Trenton got more of a lighter cosmetic-only remodel. To be fair, it was in pretty good shape before the renovation, and you can see it here . The store being fully decked out for Valentine's Day when I visited helps distract from the simpler version of this decor package, which is very beige. (Compare to a deluxe version here .) Stop & Shop Open: 1996 - 2024 Owner:  Ahold Delhaize Previous Tenants:  Edwards (closed 1996) Cooperative:  none Location:  539-571 Boston Tpk, Shrewsbury, MA Photographed:  February 7, 2025 It's time to return to one of the Stop & Shop stores that closed in late 2024 -- this one in central Massachusetts, just outside Worcester. The Shrewsbury store opened in the early 1990s as an Edwards, not a Shaw's as I had originally theorized (thank you to everyone who explained the Edwards history to me!). Around 1996 or the late 90s, it was converted to Stop & Shop, which closed in 2024 . The store is still vacant with no apparent indications of what's to come, but it's possible there's a new tenant lined up. For one, the store isn't advertised as available for lease anywhere that I can find online nor was there any space available signage on the building itself. Food Bazaar Supermarket Opened: October 4, 2024 Owner:  Spencer An Previous Tenants:  Grand Union (closed 2001) > Stop & Shop (2001-2024) Cooperative:  none Location:  675 Paterson Ave, Carlstadt, NJ Photographed:  December 15, 2024 Time for another update at two of the Food Bazaar stores acquired from Stop & Shop this past fall! The Carlstadt store's renovation is moving right along, while Pisctataway's hasn't really started yet. As we have previously seen, Carlstadt's exterior has been painted, but the interior work is progressing too. (See here for my most recent post on Carlstadt and Piscataway, about a month ago.) Inside, Carlstadt is starting to look much more like a Food Bazaar than a Stop & Shop, though the majority of the fixtures and layout remain. But the flooring has been switched to polished concrete throughout, and the ceiling and walls have gotten a fresh paint job. While I do generally like the dark ceiling, here it results in th...
