Update: SuperFresh - Queens, NY (Oakland Gardens)

SuperFresh Opened: May 2026 Owner: Hi Jong Lee Previous Tenants:  Food Fair (open by 1956) > Dan's Supreme (open by early 1970s) > Dan's Supreme Majors (ca. 1980s-1990) > Dan's Supreme Key Food (1990-2026) Cooperative: Key Food Stores Location:  214-14 73rd Ave, Queens, NY Photographed: September 11, 2026 You might recall that back in May, I did a very long post about what's going on in Oakland Gardens, Queens -- one Key Food is changing to SuperFresh, while the other Key Food became a Holiday Farms and then a SuperFresh and is now back to Key Food. Let's check in on that first one, which transitioned from Key Food to SuperFresh as Dan's Supreme Supermarkets (Grobman family) sold the store to Food World (Lee family) back last spring. Update: ACME Markets - Philadelphia, PA (Mayfair)

ACME Markets Opened: 1979 Owner:  Albertsons Companies Previous Tenants: Food Fair Cooperative: none Location: 6601 Roosevelt Blvd, Philadelphia, PA Photographed: April 1, 2026 It's time to return to the ACME on Roosevelt Boulevard in Philadelphia's Mayfair section, which we last saw in progress last year . The renovation has finished at the 50,000 square foot supermarket, and contrary to what I expected when I first posted it, the decor has in fact been changed to the latest ACME decor package. I've tried to line up the pictures as well as possible for a direct before and after, so let's check out what's changed! The biggest change was taking out the first two grocery aisles to move an expanded wine and beer section to this location (previously, it was on the front wall to the right of the floral department above). I captured that transition last year... ...and it's now complete, with the new Frosted Mug department taking up what used to be aisles 1 and 2....
