Location:  89 PA-940, Mount Pocono, PA Photographed:  January 15, 2021 Welcome to an extraordinarily foggy winter day at the Mount Pocono ShopRite! This 80,000 square foot store is one of three northeastern PA ShopRites owned by Bill's Supermarkets, the others being in Daleville and Moosic . The building was originally an Ames department store, and a Bill's ShurSave predated the ShopRite like the Daleville store. Bill's joined Wakefern after leaving ShurSave around 2005. We enter on the left side of the store to produce, with seafood, deli, and bakery at the back of the grand aisle. Meat lines the back wall with prepared foods and beer/wine in the front right corner. ShopRite of Daleville Owner: Bill Bracey Opened: ca. 2005 Previous Tenants:  Bill's ShurSave Cooperative:  Wakefern Food Corp. Location: 921 Drinker Tpk, Daleville, PA Photographed:  August 12, 2020 The small town of Daleville, PA has a massive ShopRite of roughly 75,000 square feet. The store moved at some point from across the mall , and around 2005, the store was switched from ShurSave to ShopRite when the owner left AWI and joined Wakefern. Here's a 2007 picture shortly after the conversion , where we can clearly see the remnants of the ShurSave name. It looks like the signage we see here has since been removed and replaced with new lettering . Here's a look at the grand aisle on the right side of the store. We have prepared foods, deli, and seafood on the right side, and produce on the left side of the grand aisle. Baked goods and meat are on the back wall, with dairy and pharmacy/HABA on the far left side. Frozen foods take up a large area, mostly in older-st...

ShopRite of Birney Plaza Owner: Bill Bracey Opened:  2020 Previous Tenants:  Kmart Cooperative:  Wakefern Food Corp. Location:  3382 Birney Ave, Moosic, PA Photographed:  August 12, 2020 I last visited Pennsylvania's Wyoming Valley in the summer of 2020, and the ShopRite of Moosic opened in December 2020. So unfortunately, I don't have any pictures of the Moosic ShopRite after it opened, but we do have a picture of the store in progress right behind a former A&P and up the street from a Fresh Grocer that's also Wakefern-affiliated. Here's a look at what the 78,000 square foot store's exterior looks like now that it's open. I'm not sure about that ShopRite sign, shouldn't it be larger and lower? But the interior looks spectacular, designed by Off the Wall. Our last installment in the Northeastern PA week series is barely even in Northeastern PA. Mount Pocono, PA is about 30 miles south of Scranton and is a much less remote location than any of the others we've seen this week. And, we're looking at an old friend, a ShopRite! This store, at 89 PA-940, is owned by William Bracey, who previously ran this store and another in Daleville as ShurSave stores. However, although he switched to the Wakefern cooperative around 2005, his company is still Bill's ShurSave Supermarkets! Both locations have gas stations and convenience stores as well, and the Daleville store even features a drive-through pharmacy. The store here in Mount Pocono was recently remodeled, and it looks fantastic . The ShopRite-branded gas station and convenience store is just around the corner from the supermarket.
