As I've said, there's a lot in and around Springfield we're not seeing, but this is just the selection of stores I've been able to actually get to. Outside of the city about four miles from downtown, we have this roughly 40,000 square foot Price Rite. The building dates back to roughly the 1960s and is paired with a former department store. While I'm not sure about the early days here, we do know from Groceteria that this store was a Mott's ShopRite by 1976, which it presumably stayed as until Mott's went under in the late 1990s. Similar to the last store , this one seems to have its roots either as a Mott's ShopRite or a replacement for one. When they were taken over by Wakefern's corporate division, SRS, quite a few were determined to be too small to keep, but multiple expansions have brought this store's size to over 60,000 square feet. The previous facade was the typical SRS model facade , which is still in place in the Clark, NJ location. Opened:  1997 as Price Rite Previous Tenants: Mott's Supermarkets > Mott's ShopRite > SRS-owned ShopRite Location:  160 Silas Deane Hwy, Wethersfield, CT Photographed:  March 2020 An extremely lucky find here while attempting to make a U-turn after taking the wrong turn while making a coronavirus-induced emergency trip from Massachusetts home to New Jersey. As soon as I spotted that roofline, I knew I had to stop. This incredible store was originally a Mott's Supermarket and later a Mott's ShopRite, before being converted into Wakefern's discount banner, Price Rite.
