ALDI - Nashua, NH

ALDI Opened:  2016 Owner: Aldi Sud Previous Tenants:  none Cooperative: none Location: 270 Amherst St, Nashua, NH Photographed: October 10, 2021 Right across the street from Nashua's first Whole Foods location is this ALDI, which opened in 2016. It doesn't look like it, but it was actually a new-build location -- the majority of new-build ALDIs seem to be freestanding, not in strip malls like this. Tomorrow, we'll be seeing another big-chain supermarket just south of here!

ALDI - Milford, MA

ALDI Opened: 2010 Owner:  ALDI Sud Previous Tenants:  none Cooperative:  none Location:  225 E Main St, Milford, MA Photographed:  August 24, 2025 Visit number 3 of five here in Milford is the ALDI, to the northeast of downtown. This approximately 18,000 square foot store was built in 2010 on the site of a former car dealership, and is situated right between a Stop & Shop to the east and a Big Y to the west that we'll be seeing tomorrow. It's been nicely renovated with the latest ALDI decor, to the point that it almost feels like a much newer store than it is -- except for the flooring, which is the dead giveaway it originally had this decor package . Most ALDIs are exactly the same, so the layout here is very straightforward: produce and baked goods in the first aisle, dairy and cold cuts on the back wall, meat and frozen in the last aisle. This one seemed a bit cleaner and better organized than many ALDIs I go to. That might be because of just how many o...

ALDI - Brooklyn, NY (Fort Greene)

ALDI Opened:  November 6, 2025 Owner:  ALDI Sud Previous Tenants:  none Cooperative:  none Location:  625 Fulton St, Brooklyn, NY Photographed: November 12, 2025 ALDI has opened its latest New York City store, here on the border of Downtown Brooklyn and Fort Greene (Google tells me that this store is just barely in a western corner of Fort Greene). This store is located in a new-construction development, so you can see retail spaces to either side of the ALDI are not yet filled and are still under construction. When you enter through that front door, you walk down a hallway to get into the supermarket, which is set back from the road a bit. The store is around 15,000 square feet, making it roughly typical in size for an ALDI. It's quite a bit smaller than the new LIDL just about four blocks west, though. This store is also within an easy walk of a Whole Foods (previously one of the 365 small-format stores), a Stop & Shop (previously Pathmark), a gourmet-fo...

TOUR: ALDI - Brockton, MA

ALDI Opened: 2017 Owner:  ALDI Sud Previous Tenants:  unknown Cooperative:  none Location:  544 Westgate Dr, Brockton, MA Photographed:  July 6, 2019 Happy Monday! Today's tour is a straightforward look around an ALDI in the northwestern part of Brockton. This store opened in 2017 and I visited two years later, in 2019. The approximately 20,000 square foot store was previously an AC Moore, and was probably originally part of a larger department store or supermarket (the remaining portion of which is now a Marshalls). Interestingly, this building is now an outparcel of the Westgate Mall, but it actually predates the mall, having been built in the late 1950s. The mall sprung up in the following decade. You enter in the front-right corner to baked goods lining the first aisle with produce in the back-right corner. Meat and cold cuts are on the back wall, and dairy and frozen are on the left side in the last aisle. Inside, even though the ALDI looks pretty good, yo...

Special Report: ALDI - Staten Island, NY (New Dorp)

ALDI Opening: TBA Owner:  ALDI Sud Previous Tenants:  Amazon Fresh (planned, never opened) Cooperative:  none Location:  430 New Dorp Ln, Staten Island, NY Photographed:  April 14, 2025 This post is just a quick lookk at an ALDI coming soon to Staten Island. I had previously been to this spot when it was slated to become an Amazon Fresh (with its signature facade), but this store and another in-progress Amazon Fresh in Connecticut went to ALDI. ALDI won't be taking the whole space, as a thrift store is moving into the other side. You can see ALDI has also kept a bit of the Amazon Fresh facade, but made it their own (and removed the recognizable green stripes, opting instead for gray and black). An opening date hasn't yet been announced for this store. It'll be the second ALDI on Staten Island, joining one about three miles west that opened in September . Check out this weekend's other posts here! Another Rite Aid becomes a supermarket, just outside of Newark ...

Snapshot: ALDI - Natick, MA

ALDI Food Market Opened: 2020 Owner:  ALDI Sud Previous Tenants:  assorted non-grocery tenants Cooperative:  none Location:  321 Speen St, Natick, MA Photographed:  May 17, 2022 Our last stop in the Framingham area is a very quick look at the ALDI in Natick, practically just across the street from yesterday's Wegmans . It appears to be a bit larger than 20,000 square feet, which would mean it's on the bigger side for ALDI. The store opened in 2020 and has the latest decor package inside. And a note on what's to come: we're about 15 miles west of Boston here, but before we move into the Boston area, we're going to turn south for a look at the southeastern corner of Massachusetts (and we'll briefly return to Rhode Island for a handful of stores). Come back tomorrow to read all about it!

Special Report: ALDI - Wayne, NJ

ALDI Food Market Opened: October 31, 2024 Owner:  ALDI Sud Previous Tenants:  ShopRite (ca. 1990-2021) Cooperative:  none Location:  625 Hamburg Tpk, Wayne, NJ Photographed: November 8, 2024 If there's one thing I like about my part of the world, it's that the supermarket scene never seems to get boring. Stores are opening and closing left and right, moving, renovating, rebranding. This weekend's 11 stores (all of which had something happen within the last few weeks or months) illustrate exactly that. The only other place I've seen that has anything like it is the Chicago area, where I traveled a while ago -- and don't worry, I've brought back the best souvenir ever: pictures of supermarkets. While we're not in Illinois now, we are seeing an Illinois-based chain in today's special report! (Yeah, I know. That's a lame transition. What do you want from me? I'm writing 11 posts at once.) Here in Wayne, New Jersey, a ShopRite built around the late 8...
