The story is very different in Brownsville, one of the lowest-income neighborhoods of the city where nearly a third of the population lives below the poverty line. It's one of the least supermarket-dense neighborhoods, too, with just a handful scattered across the community of about 100,000. And it's just lost another supermarket, on the western edge near Crown Heights: this Associated Supermarket, which closed either late last month or early this month.
