Wakefern acquires Morton Williams Wakefern Food Corp., the cooperative that runs ShopRite stores, has acquired NYC chain Morton Williams outright. It seems that the stores will be corporately-owned, joining about 100 other Wakefern-owned ShopRite and Price Rite locations. Market 32 Opened: 2018 Owner:  Northeast Grocery Previous Tenants:  Price Chopper (mid-2000s - 2018) Cooperative:  none Location:  72 Pullman St, Greendale, Worcester, MA Photographed:  December 7, 2018; December 13, 2018; and July 13, 2019 We're getting down to the end here with our last few Worcester stores! Today's post is all the way near the northern city limits, just north of yesterday's former Fortin's Market (and likely a key factor in that store's demise). While that store closed at some point between 2000 and 2007, this store opened in the same time frame as a ground-up new build Price Chopper spanning around 62,000 square feet. (At the time, it was likely very similar to the slightly larger  Main & Cambridge store, which opened in 2001. Today, they barely look like they're owned by the same company.) Market 32 Opened: 2015 Previous Tenants:  none Location:  21 Galaxy Pass, Sutton, MA Photographed:  September 4, 2021 I discussed the history of Price Chopper's experimentation with various different formats on the Webster post , and we're here to tour the Sutton Market 32 location -- a result of some of that experimentation! This was the first new-build Market 32 , opening in 2015 (previous Market 32s were conversions from Price Chopper). The 60,000 square foot store contains a liquor store and a Starbucks, both features Webster opened with two years prior. But this is a truly spectacular supermarket! We'll see a few Market 32s and I must say I am consistently impressed with them. This one is extra-deluxe because it was designed as one and not as a Price Chopper. Cafe, Starbucks, and an entrance to the liquor store are in the front right corner, with prepared foods on the right side of the grand aisle.
