Update: Food Universe Marketplace - Clifton, NJ

Food Universe Marketplace Opened: 2023 Owner: Teofilo de Jesus Previous Tenants: Grand Union > Rite Aid Cooperative: Key Food Stores Location:  435 Lexington Ave, Clifton, NJ Photographed: September 12, 2026 Welcome back to the Clifton Food Universe! (Scroll down to the bottom of this post to see my previous update.) On that post back in June, I was wondering about the renovations here that left the layout kind of odd and the flooring all broken up. I am very pleased to report that remodeling has continued and the store is looking much better these days. In other words, this remodel ended up being much more extensive than I thought it would be. That's clear here in produce, with new display tables and refrigeration, but also a nice new floor that continues throughout the store. A juice bar, bakery, hot food bar, newly-expanded deli, and seafood line the left side wall with meat on the back wall, and dairy/frozen on the right side. Update: SuperFresh & Food Universe!

SuperFresh Opened: March 12, 2025 Owner: Bruce Yong Pak Previous Tenants: Roulstons Capitol Super Market (1940s-1960s) > Associated (1981-??) > Fine Fare (1990s) > Met Foodmarkets (open by 2004) Cooperative: Key Food Stores Location: 3404 Quentin Rd, Brooklyn, NY Photographed: February 13, 2026 It's SuperFresh time! We're back in Marine Park in southern Brooklyn to check in on the remodel at the tiny supermarket here. You can see previous coverage here . It appears to be done (I think?) with remodeling -- although there's still a lot that seems unfinished, it doesn't look like any more work is going on. New shelving for snacks and bread, along with a case for fresh rolls, has been added to the front-right corner of the store. Produce and frozen are in the first aisle on the right side, with the rest of frozen lining the back wall.
