We first saw this store back in April of 2019 when I thought it might be a former A&P. We've confirmed that, and we also see that Sherwin-Williams has done some light renovations to the exterior of the building but kept the A&P essence intact. I will say, Bath seems to have been hit pretty hard since I was there last. Unlike most of the other Finger Lakes towns we stopped in, Bath's downtown is mostly vacant and seems to be struggling. And on that point, the Salvation Army store in a former ACME to the south of Bath has closed since we last visited. You can read more about that here . Original Tenant:  Deal's Super Duper Address:  7183 NY-54, Bath, NY Opened:  1979 Closed:  unknown Later Tenants:  Save-A-Lot (??-2012) > Clark Specialty Co. (2012-2019) Photographed:  August 2020 Route 54 is the main road along Keuka Lake's east side, with 54A going up the west side. 54 goes from Bath to Penn Yan, where it turns east and heads out to Dresden on Seneca Lake. This store is located north of Bath on 54 between Bath and Hammondsport. It's unclear whether this store's original tenant, Deal's Super Duper, had any relation to the other assorted Super Duper supermarkets in the NY-PA area. I know there were several, but I believe the only one still operating is Dave's Super Duper in Honesdale, PA. It was later taken over by Save-A-Lot, which drpep captured here in 2009. In 2012, Save-A-Lot moved to the former P&C Foods to the south of Bath  and this 18,000 square foot store was taken over by Clark Specialty Co. , ...

Our last stop here in Bath is a look at another really, really nice Tops. I snapped a few drive-by pictures early in the week I was here, but we returned and went into the store, so I have a full tour. It features much newer decor than the one we saw in Canandaigua , but I would imagine it opened with that decor. Surprisingly, this store is only about 45,000 square feet. It feels much larger. Also interesting, it's almost a perfect square. Daytime drive-by, and then a nighttime visit... Produce and natural/organic run along the first aisle, with deli in an island facing. Bakery is at the back of the first aisle with meat/seafood on the back wall. Dairy is in the last aisle. I'm not remembering entirely, but I believe pharmacy is in an island in the middle of the grocery aisles facing the front end. I'm assuming this time capsule was installed when the store was built in 1996. And hey, you want a (terrifying) fun fact? If we go to plan, we'll be cover...

We are returning to the slightly larger small town of Bath, located south of the south end of Keuka Lake, for two more stores. (We've previously seen a former A&P and a former ACME .) Now for two stores that are still operating here. On our post of the former ACME, I wrote (and speculated) a little about the history of that store and this one, which might be very closely connected. They are located in very close proximity to each other: "The replacement ACME probably, as Acme Style points out, closed in 1994 before a sale to Penn Traffic. (In 1979, it had been  switched  to the Pennsylvania division, not as strange a choice as it might seem since Bath is only 30 miles north of the Pennsylvania border.) Interestingly, by 2009, Penn Traffic was operating a P&C Foods at  400 W Morris St in Bath  (just around the corner from this store at 380 W Washington St), which was sold to Tops Friendly Markets in 2010 before being  sold  once again ...

Heading back up to the Finger Lakes of New York for a quick look at a store I'm pretty sure was previously an A&P. We saw the former ACME in Bath, NY a few weeks ago. Like that store, this supermarket has been repurposed as a non-grocery store. The peaked facade and side-facing entrance makes me pretty sure that this building was an A&P! Acme Style has covered this location (actually just shy of a year ago), but now it's my turn. I happened to stumble across this store while on vacation in the area and had no idea that I was in ACME country. Starting off with a look at the former pitched-roof store just next to the newer location. The new facade disguises the roof, but you can see it's still there in Acme Style's post. Also, let's take a second to appreciate that this mall is home to both a Dollar Tree and  a Family Dollar. The pitched-roof store likely opened in the mid- to late-1960s, with the replacement store opening around the late 1970s. Here we can see the new store beginning in front, with the older store visible to the left. We can also see a hint of an angled roof behind the Dollar Tree facade.
