(The first, in Paramus , opened in 2019.) The Guinness World Record holder for the world's largest dairy store has impressively transformed the 54,000 square foot former ACME, later Seasons , a kosher supermarket, at Styertowne Center. The finishing touches were still being put on the building's silo -- visible from nearby route 3, an east-west artery and approach to the Lincoln Tunnel -- when I visited a few days after the store opened. There were a few other details to work out following the store's opening, such as a few signs around the property that still advertised Seasons Supermarket. But Seasons is gone from here, so let's see what Stew Leonard's has ...

Rumors suggested it wouldn't actually close until mid-June but by late May it was empty and locked up. So unfortunately we will only get the outside pictures and a brief look in through the windows. The store opened in 2016 in a former ACME that was a bit over 10 years old at the time of its closure. The 55,000 square foot store was turned into one of the larger kosher supermarkets in the area. While Seasons says they lost their lease (which is true; this will soon be home to New Jersey's second Stew Leonard's), I think the real story is not that simple. Stop & Shop Opened: 2009, 2001 in former building Previous Tenants:  Grand Union in older building on same property Location:  1189 Broad St, Clifton, NJ Photographed:  December 2021 I finally got to visit the Allwood Stop & Shop for the first time a few weeks ago! This was the first Stop & Shop in New Jersey to get the remodel that's been working its way through the chain. The decision to start with this store was almost certainly prompted by the enormous remodel at the ShopRite just a mile south on Broad Street. This store isn't that old, having opened in 2009 on the site of a demolished acquired Grand Union store. The supermarket of just under 50,000 square feet seems to do a pretty good business despite its competition, and certainly if it warranted the major replacement project instead of just remodeling the existing Grand Union building as Stop & Shop did in so many places elsewhere.
