Stop & Shop
This was a pretty small update, with just some new paint and decor along with a reset of the grocery aisles. I'm not entirely certain, but it doesn't look like most of the fixtures were replaced, just repainted.
The flooring remains from Pathmark, as does the layout with some grocery aisles to the left of produce and the rest to the right. One odd change during the remodel was moving health and beauty items out of these aisles next to the pharmacy to the complete opposite side of the store, near pharmacy. Now, these aisles next to pharmacy are groceries, and all the nonfoods are on the other side of the store.
While I don't love this decor, it's a significant step up from the previous one. It no longer looks like Stop & Shop has completely given up, and these remodeled stores are looking much better now -- paired, too, with the fact that the in-store conditions at all the Stop & Shops I've visited lately are much better. The stores are generally noticeably cleaner and better-stocked than they have been in the past.
The deluxe version of this decor features less gray and more black, which I think is a better look and less bland. But still, it's nice to see this store getting some much-needed attention.
It looks like the freezer and dairy cases were refreshed, but not replaced, in the remodel. Still an improvement.
It's good to see a remodel here, and more broadly, Stop & Shop is definitely back in the game. I'll keep an eye out for more remodels in this area! In the meantime, here's this weekend's other posts...
