This store is just under 8,000 square feet, putting it in line with the other New York City locations . This and a smaller store in Hoboken, NJ are the only small-format Daily Shops outside of Manhattan in this area (there's another in Virginia), but Whole Foods has said they intend to continue to expand the chain. The store is designed very similarly to the other NYC locations (Hoboken, by nature of its history, has a rather different interior design). Produce is the first department you enter to, with baked goods on the front wall. Prepared foods, cheese, and meat/seafood are in the first aisle, with dairy on the back wall and frozen in the last aisle. Th...

And these bank buildings have been repurposed in all kinds of ways. My personal favorite, naturally, is as a supermarket. Whole Foods' latest New Jersey store, which opened last month, takes up a gorgeous former bank in downtown Hoboken. It's also the latest Daily Shop  -- not to mention the first in New Jersey and the smallest yet, at just 4800 square feet. The store is located on bustling Washington Street, a block over from a longtime independent natural food store Organic Basic Food . (And I've seen more than one review/post online comparing this store unfavorably to the stalwart independent organic market.) Whole Foods Market Opened: May 14, 2025 Owner:  Amazon Previous Tenants:  Associated Supermarkets Cooperative:  none Location:  409 E 14th St, Manhattan, NY Photographed:  June 13, 2025 Whole Foods has been in the news mostly recently for out-of-stocks related to a hack at UNFI , their primary supplier. But just before that, Whole Foods made the news for opening two new small-format stores in New York City, in mid-May here in Stuyvesant Town, and early June in Hell's Kitchen, which we'll see in a bit. This is the latest expansion for the small-format stores, with the first location opening on the Upper East Side in September . Here in Stuy Town, a roughly 10,000 square foot Whole Foods Daily Shop has replaced a longtime Associated that closed in 2019. It's been extensively renovated and looks nothing like the previous Associated  (which was pleasant and very old-school).
