Wentworth Family Grocery is a small chain of three grocery stores in this area of Maine, and the Northport store is a relatively new store having been constructed from the ground up in 2009. It's around 10,000 square feet, or slightly larger than the independent grocers I've been posting in the last couple days. And as we wind our way through this part of Maine, we'll see one other Wentworth location, so more on that soon. Tomorrow, we'll be headed up to the larger town of Belfast!

Their interiors are a whole different story. From the pictures I've seen online, it looks suspiciously dated for a store of 2009. The low drop ceiling with a black ceiling grid on white tiles, and the orange/green color look like they belong in the 1980s. Then again, even their replacement Brooks location they built a few years ago looks equally out of date.
ReplyDeleteAnother interesting note is that the original 4-pump fuel canopy was in front of the entrance, which was a holdover from the previous building on the site (Nealey's Hardware). Sometime within the past ten years it got replaced with the current 8-pump setup on the adjacent lot that is now a Citgo.
