It's time to round out our Maine coverage with a tour here at Goggin's IGA in Randolph! The independent supermarket has been in business since 1946, but here in this 27,000 square foot building since 2001.
Produce is in the front-right corner along with the pharmacy, and deli-bakery line the rest of the first aisle. Meat and seafood are on the back wall, with dairy and frozen on the left side of the store.
The store is smaller than the nearby Hannaford, for instance, but is without a doubt a full-line supermarket.
This decor package bears some similarities to other IGA decor we've seen, and it's possible there's some coordination between IGA and the design firm to use similar decor. It's also entirely possible that's just a coincidence.
A look across the back wall. As you can see, the store is immaculate if not state-of-the-art.
I would imagine Goggin's has been renovated at least once since it opened, since this decor seems slightly newer than 2001 to me.
Dairy and frozen on the left side...
Many, but not all, of the fixtures are probably original to the 2001 opening, though. Some look newer...
...such as the freezers visible to the right above.
And here's a look at the front-end...
Thanks for spending some time in Maine with me, everyone! We're not quite done yet: tomorrow will be a look at the area other than the supermarkets, and on Wednesday I'm introducing a particularly exciting 10th year special feature. Stay tuned!
