SuperFresh
Opened: March 12, 2025
Owner: unknownWe return to the Marine Park SuperFresh to check in on the renovation! This very old-school supermarket is currently getting its most major renovation in many years, and it's starting to come together. Bread is now in the front-right corner, where the deli used to be, and there's some more fixtures prepared to go in here as well.
It's possible they're intending to add another aisle here, which is at the front of the produce department. As an aside, and as I mentioned on another post today, I'm behind on posting a lot of things, so these pictures are actually from right around Halloween.
The rest of the first aisle's fixtures are all done, with shiny new freezers and produce refrigerators now up and running.
They've built out an access door to the basement, where the backroom apparently is, which you can see to the left. It's actually kind of an island at the end of the first aisle.
This store was very much in need of the extensive work it is receiving, so it's good to see an investment being made here. It's the only supermarket in this central area of Marine Park, but there's a much larger Key Food just outside the neighborhood's main business district.
You can see the old Met Food aisle markers, with the word "Met" removed from them, were still up at the time of my visit. I'm not sure if they've since been removed or replaced.
And you can also see the edge of a very brightly-colored Met Foods department sign to the left below.
Meat and dairy, also in new or refurbished cases, are now in the last aisle.
And the new deli and soon-to-open hot food bar are up in the front-left corner.
The registers haven't (yet?) been replaced, but you can see that the front-end has been opened up greatly. The windows haven't been changed, but the previous Met Foods owners had blocked the windows with shelving. If the SuperFresh owners keep the windows open like this, the tiny store feels much brighter and more open.
