Location:  935 Boston Post Rd, Milford, CT Photographed:  November 2018 We've moved from the Hartford area  to the southern coastline of Connecticut, where we're starting here in Milford. The town of Milford is about halfway between Bridgeport (to the west) and New Haven (to the east). This 73,000 square foot ShopRite opened as a new-build store in 2016 replacing a much smaller, 56,000 square foot  ShopRite nearby a matter of blocks away. Warning: I went way overboard on the pictures in this store. This is quite a substantial tour. This store model has roughly been used by other ShopRite owners, originating with Saker World Class ShopRites in southern New Jersey, and adapted by Garafalo here in Milford and Cromwell , along with Mannix in Staten Island . Similar to the last store , this one seems to have its roots either as a Mott's ShopRite or a replacement for one. When they were taken over by Wakefern's corporate division, SRS, quite a few were determined to be too small to keep, but multiple expansions have brought this store's size to over 60,000 square feet. The previous facade was the typical SRS model facade , which is still in place in the Clark, NJ location. Location:  31 Main St, East Hartford, CT Photographed:  September 2020 Contributor:  Lars D. Our contributor Lars is bringing us yet another store just to the east of Hartford. In fact, it's in East Hartford! This store started out as an A&P store, as we can tell from the beautifully original facade, but was later taken over by Shaw's. When Shaw's left the state in 2011, most of the stores were sold to ShopRite operators. While the Cohens, who also the one over in Manchester , bought this location at the time, they did a full renovation but the Shaw's decor wasn't all that old anyway, so we'll see the bones remain.
