The Walgreens next to the store was built as a Medi-Mart, owned by Stop & Shop. The facade was renovated about a year after SuperFresh Food World opened.
The interior isn't in bad shape, but it's starting to show its age. When SuperFresh Food World moved in here, their renovation was largely cosmetic with a lot of fixtures (not to mention flooring and lighting) left over from A&P. Though it's been maintained pretty well, it's definitely an older store now.
The layout hasn't changed much since the SuperFresh Food World days, though there have been some very small changes. Originally, Stop & Shop had a cut-through in the front-right corner to the MediMart drugstore, which became an alcove A&P used for floral and greeting cards. SuperFresh Food World moved cold cuts into that corner, with floral in a smaller section. Now, the new SuperFresh owners have moved cold cuts over to the meat department, using that alcove (visible to the right below) as an expansion of the produce department. Meat and produce are here in the first aisle, with service seafood and dairy on the back wall. Frozen and the rest of dairy are on the left side in the last aisle. The front-left corner has sushi, hot food, deli, and bakery, and the new owners have added Peter's Cafe with boba tea, empanadas, and a few other snacks along with a seating area.

These days, this SuperFresh shares ownership with the Hopelawn location, which has also recently added a Peter's Cafe and an ice cream shop. They also own a Food Universe in Passaic, and a relative appears to be the owner of the K-Slope Marketplace in Brooklyn.
This store has also recently added a beer department. I'm not entirely sure where it is. (That might be in response to the fact that the nearby ShopRite no longer sells beer after an ownership change.)
The new owners have also sharpened the international department here, adding a significantly larger selection of Asian foods including items you might not typically find in chain supermarkets, like Filipino items. That's in line with the area's population.
The A&P-era freezers here, though, may need an update sometime soon.

Before we begin, just a heads up: this was originally posted in April 2021, but was rewritten with new photos in July 2026. Now for the post! We're coming back to the former A&P here in Bloomfield, a 32,000 square foot building built as a Stop & Shop back in the 60s and taken over by A&P in 1980. In 2016, it re-opened as a SuperFresh Food World and it was sold in late 2020. It's now just a SuperFresh.
The store seems to use about 50% refurbished Walmart carts (minus the Walmart logo) and 50% former Kmart carts, likely from the recently-closed West Orange location nearby, also with the logos removed but the cutout KMART text on the side remains. I believe these carts briefly appeared at some of the Kings stores around the area, but they still had the promotional inserts ("Explore spring fashions at Kmart!") which SuperFresh has removed.
I've gotta say, that SuperFresh logo is really eye-catching. It looks great in the context of this newly renovated strip mall. Inside, the store looks pretty much the same (although there are no longer Food World logos around, they've all been replaced with SuperFresh logos). Let's take a look around with new pictures from 2026...
